Vodka and great literature

What is it about the Russians, vodka and writing? Well, I can't answer that question, despite being half-way through War and Peace (the same spot I've been for the past two years), but I do know that there will be plenty of vodka and great literature (sexy, smart excerpts from Behind the Bedroom Door) at KGB bar this coming Tuesday night, at 7 PM. Be there, do shots, and get in the mood for some good sex talk.

I'm determined to get one. And so I am starting the SELF Challenge this week, a three month fitness plan, to get myself a toned-yet-curvy form in time for beach weather. Because I live for beach weather. I'm a Leo, after all, and nothing makes me more relaxed than the warm sun on my face, cool salt water drying from my body, and the sound of the waves crashing. Am I a cliche, or what?

2. Frenchman's Cove, Port Antonio, Jamaica
3. Napeague/Amagansett, Long Island, New York
4. Cahoon Hollow Beach, Wellfleet, Massachusetts

What scientists have learned from speed dating

1. That fear of losing the possibility of a long term bond motivates new couples as much as sexual attraction.
2. That it's much tougher to tell who a woman is interested in (and not interested in) than it is to interpret a man's interest
3. That when women speed daters do the moving from table to table, they are much more interested in every man they meet; the same is true for men. Apparently, putting yourself out there and making the first approach promotes bonding.
4. That the more men there are to choose from, the pickier women get (in the animal world it is just the opposite: the more potential mates available, the more the female goes at it!)
5. That men are mostly motivated (initially, at least) by physical attractiveness (but we knew that).

The perfect Valentine's gift for women--and men, too!

A very wise acquaintance of mine said that men who read Behind the Bedroom Door would end up "wiser lovers." Which is good for women, too. Besides, it's sexy, romantic, sometimes serious, sometimes sad, just like Valentine's Day in real life. It's not politically correct to like Valentine's Day and in fact I spent the majority of my life dreading it yet somehow hoping roses would magically appear on my desk from a secret admirer. So if I actually happen to have a date on actual Valentine's Day, I feel unreasonably excited. I guess this means there's a limit to my cynicism. Or maybe I'm just up for enjoying any excuse, even a Hallmark one, to celebrate and express love.
